Hyun Park
Business Management
Adjunct Associate Professor

Prof. Hyun Park has worked in management, innovation, entrepreneurship and marketing. He was the Head of Global Offering Management at Nokia and had various global managerial positions in business development, strategy, marketing and product management. He has also advised on many very early stage startups in IT, biotech, environment, and many other industries. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and a research degree in sustainability from the University of Cambridge. Prof. Park has been a lecturer and speaker in innovation, entrepreneurship, marketing and experience management at both graduate school of business and college of engineering at many world leading institutions such as Cambridge, UC Berkeley, Northwestern, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, IMD, INSEAD, IE, Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan, Bocconi, NUS, NTU, Seoul National, Yonsei, Pusan National, TEDx, and many others.

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Prof. Park received a B.A. in political science and an M.P.A. in foreign affairs and national security, both from Yonsei University in Korea, and an M.S. in telecommunications and network management from Syracuse University in New York. The title of his M.S. project was "Home Networking Systems on Wireless Grids." While at Syracuse University he gained experience as a consultant in the interactive media lab at the university's Maxwell School. Mr. Park also has varied experience as a computer consultant in Korea. He joined the UMUC Asia faculty during academic year 2005-2006.

Professor Yolonda Patterson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She received her B.S. from Purdue University West Lafayette, Indiana in consumer sciences and retailing, and an M.P.A. and Ed.D. from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta Georgia in public administration and educational leadership. She was a public school educator for 21 years and has taught overseas with the Department of Defense Education Activity for three year; one year in South Korea and two years in Misawa, Japan. She enjoys reading, writing, traveling and roller skating.

Dr. Young Paek holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BA in political science from Ewha Women's University from Seoul, South Korea. 

Adjunct Assistant Professor
Prof. Phillips holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Welsh Language and Literature from St. David`s University College, University of Wales. He gained his Post Graduate Certificate in Education and teaching licence from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. He also holds an M.A. in T.E.S.O.L from the University of Technology, Sydney. Professor Phillips was brought up in a bilingual household and has spent over twenty years teaching Welsh and English second language acquisition to school and university students in Wales and Okinawa. In a previous life he was a national lifeguard champion who competed in many international competitions, but these days he splits his free time between genealogical research and family life.

Prof. Dara Pickren-Davis holds a MA from Central Washington University and a BA from Florida State University School of Music. 

Collegiate Associate Professor

Prof. Plucer-Rosario graduated from Antioch College with a BA in Humanistic Ecology. She then taught high school in Palau (east of the Philippines and west of Guam) for two years where she fell in love with the beauty of coral reefs. She then returned to the University of Guam and earned a Masters in Marine Biology. She began her career teaching for UMUC, Guam and taught Biology 101, Genetics, Oceanography, Life in the Oceans, and Environmental Science. She taught for UMUC for 7 years part time and grew two daughters to add to her family. In 1991, she worked for and then started her own consulting firm where she prepared Environmental Impact Statements and other environmental documents for government and commercial developments. She taught for several years at the University of Guam and returned to UMUC in 1999. She has taught numerous face-to-face, hybrid and online courses in biology, environmental science and nutrition. Prof. Plucer-Rosario was hired as Faculty Coordinator in 2011 and has continued working in this capacity to assure high academic quality for our students. Prof. Plucer-Rosario was raised in NYC and Tokyo, and lived on Guam most of her life. The joys in her life (besides family and teaching) include listening to music (all types except opera), reading, eating interesting and different foods (especially hot and spicy), crafting, collecting ethnic arts and crafts, and, the most expensive one of all, traveling. She have traveled to over 20 countries, and plans to travel to Turkey, Israel, Egypt, China, Brazil, Greece and Peru. She envies many of her students who have seen so much more than her!
